Chippiparai

Chippiparai

The Chippiparai is a sighthound breed native to Tamil Nadu in southern India.  They were used to hunt wild boar and were a source of pride for royal families. They are excellent at protecting and guarding their family. They are extremely close to their family members. They may appear thin, but the majority of their weight is made up of bone and muscle. This medium dog breed is available in white, fawn, brindle, grey, and red.

Chippiparai dogs are extremely low-maintenance. They are well-suited to Indian weather and require little grooming. Chippiparai are eager to please their human friends, making training easier. This breed of dog is well-known for its ability to run at a breakneck pace. They are shy animals that must be socialised and exposed to a variety of sounds and scents from a young age. Chippiparai puppies enjoy company and may suffer from separation anxiety.

The Chippiparai, they require at least 90 minutes of active exercise per day to remain healthy and happy dogs. They are not a good choice for an apartment because of their high energy. The Chippiparai can become destructive, nervous, or hyperactive if not given enough space and exercise.

These dogs are intelligent and self-sufficient, and they form close bonds with only those who provide the most training and handling.
This means that owners should begin socialising their Chippiparais puppies as early as possible in their lives, exposing them to a variety of people, animals, and environments.
These are single-person dogs who are devoted to their owners or handlers. Some people would prefer not to be handled, fed, or petted by anyone other than their masters. They can be obstinate at times and have an independent demeanour.  Chippaparais are fiercely protective of their territory or domain, and will defend it at all costs, making them excellent watchdogs. These clever dogs have a natural hunting instinct and despise being left alone for long periods of time, resorting to destructive behaviour in such situations.

Chippiparai dogs require a lot of energy from their food. Unlike other dogs, a Chippiparai dog's energy requirements are extremely high.
Breeders in the native tract spend the majority of their income on providing proper nutrition for their dogs. It's incredible to see how well these dogs are cared for. We recommend that you read our post on the best dog food in India to gain a thorough understanding of dog food and nutrition.
All of the breeders we spoke with feed their animals in the same way. At the start of the day, make a soup with chicken, goat leg, or oxtail.
Their diet is then completed by ragi/finger millet boiled with chicken or vegetables. Breeders in the native tract hunt with their dogs.
As a result, their feeding schedule and dog food are slightly different.

Chippiparais have short coats and don't need to be groomed very often. Brush your teeth once or twice a week.
They enjoy being massaged, like most dogs, and will never object to being brushed with a soft brush or a hound mitt.
